As of Thursday, Subway’s locations are owned and operated by McDonalds of Pennsylvania, according to a company blog.
As of Thursday morning, the company had 1,527 locations in Pennsylvania, and the Pittsburgh locations are McDonalds’ third-largest restaurant network in the U.S. The Pittsburgh locations have more than 600 locations, including more than 20 locations in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
While many people may remember the burger chain’s “Fast Food Friday” protests in 2015, the chain has seen a gradual shift in its business.
In addition to its new restaurant locations, McDonalds has launched new restaurants in some of the state’s biggest cities.
For example, McDonald’s announced a new “Hamburger Tuesday” promotion for Tuesday through Saturday.
It has also announced plans to expand in other areas of the country.
Subway also announced new partnerships with restaurants in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and more than a dozen other states.
A McDonalds spokesperson told ABC News that the chain’s strategy is to expand into more markets, which will include “a number of areas in the metro area.”
