For a long time, it was hard to find people who could pull it off, and when you’re an aspiring restaurateur you have to keep working until you can.
For one of those aspiring restaurateurs, Australian food entrepreneur and author Nick McIlwraith is the man.
He has worked at many of the biggest names in the restaurant industry: Panera Bread, Panera, Pizza Hut, Chipotle, McDonald’s and Burger King.
When he got the idea to create a food blog, it took off quickly and quickly turned into a full-time job.
“I was doing freelance writing for food magazines and had to find other ways to earn money, but that was really hard and I couldn’t really do anything else. I couldn�t write for a living, so I had to take a job at a restaurant to do that.”
So, I did a job as a restaurant manager at a small Australian restaurant in Perth.
Then, when I got a call from a man named James, he said, ‘I want you to come and work at my restaurant and get a taste of what it�s like to be a chef’.
“And I said ‘Great, I love it, I’m so excited to be doing it and I love being part of the restaurant business.'”
And he said ‘you are going to be my assistant, right?’
And I said, ‘Absolutely, why not?’
And he said I should just work from home.
So I did.
And it took about six months for me to be an assistant.
It wasn�t until about three months in that I started working full-on full-timed hours and actually starting working nights, because the only thing I did for free was to write about my job.
It wasn�s amazing what that does.
I’ve never worked anywhere else where it�re just so easy to do the work.
It�s also great what the restaurant has done for me.
I�ve learnt a lot about myself and the restaurant community, and I think that�s been really helpful.
“Now, I have an amazing team at my kitchen and I�m working with people who are amazing.
It�s really a great environment to work in and I am just so grateful to the restaurant and the people who work there.”
I was lucky enough to be the first person on the team to get hired by a McDonald�s franchise in Melbourne and I learned a lot.
I learned so much from that experience.
I have never worked in any restaurant setting and I had never been to a restaurant where I had a chance to work.
“They gave me a great opportunity to get involved in the business and I have to say, it really has been a blessing to be able to do this.”
When you are a young person, you don�t really understand that this is what you want to do, you think that you want something different and it is amazing that people can give you that opportunity.
It was amazing to be asked to do a job like this and be the chef at Panera and I enjoyed it, it�ll be really hard to do anything in a job that I really enjoy doing.
The McDonald�lls restaurant has a great team.
They put a lot of effort into it.
I got a lot out of it.
The restaurant is so good.
The people are really nice, the food is amazing, and it�d been really rewarding.
