The number of restaurants in the Los Angeles area that are not affiliated with a licensed health club or a food truck, according to the LA County Health Department, has reached an all-time high.
The health department said it expects the number of health clubs and food trucks to reach 100,000 by the end of 2019.
The number of licensed restaurants in LA County has reached all-times-high levelsThe number and locations of licensed food trucks has reached a level that will not be sustainable for the city, the LA City Council declared Wednesday, after a yearlong effort to increase the number and location of healthy restaurants.
The council, which includes some who are on the Food Truck Association of Los Angeles (FTOLA), said it would seek to expand the number by 2020.
In total, there are more than 3,000 food trucks in Los Angles.
The city of Los Anglos Food Truck Festival (LAGFTF) is scheduled for July 19-21 in the Downtown Plaza.
The number has been rising, according the LA Times, which also said that the number has reached record levels.
The Times reported that during the first half of 2018, there were only 1,100 food trucks and about 400 food carts in Los Angelenos.
The LAGFTA said in a statement that the increase was due to a “continued emphasis on sustainable operations” by the food truck association.
The food truck movement began in the mid-1990s with the growth of fast-casual restaurants, including Panera Bread and Chipotle.
But as the number grew, so did the number in Southern California.
Last year, there was about 50,000 healthy restaurants operating in the state, according a LA Times report.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced a “sustainable citywide” program to address the increasing number of unhealthy restaurants last month.
Garcetti said the city has been working with the Food Trucks Association of LA (FTALA) to identify the locations of healthy food trucks that are currently operating and would like to add to that list.
The City Council has set a goal of reaching 50,600 healthy restaurants by 2021.
